Using your heart rate to guide your exercise workout and intensity level is crucial for heart health and to ensure you are exercising safely for your specific fitness level. LifeSpan treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise bikes include innovative exercise programs including interval, distance, step count, and customized user programs. These treadmills, elliptical and exercise bikes also include our MyZone heart rate control programs, so you can make the most effective use of your heart rate while you exercise. Exercise programs on LifeSpan treadmills, ellipticals and exercise bikes have been designed by an Exercise Physiologist to ensure that they are medically appropriate to help you achieve desired results. Below, learn how LifeSpan heart rate programs can help you reach your health and fitness goals.
Two MyZone Heart Rate Control Programs
Most LifeSpan fitness equipment includes at least one of the following heart rate control programs. At LifeSpan Fitness you can learn how to use heart rate programs effectively for your exercise motivation, whether it’s weight loss, healthy living, disease management or sports training.
MyZone programs are simple to use — just follow the console prompts to enter your heart rate before you begin your program, then use the contact pulse grips on the handlebars or a chest strap to monitor your heart rate as you exercise.
MyZone Constant — In the MyZone Constant Heart Rate Control Program, you simply enter the desired heart rate you’d like to maintain during your exercise. Refer to the “Target Heart Rate Zones” information above to identify your ideal training zone based on your personal fitness goals. On LifeSpan treadmills, after a three minute warmup the speed and incline automatically adjust every ten seconds to keep your heart rate the same throughout your entire workout. On LifeSpan elliptical trainers and exercise bikes, the resistance level automatically adjusts to keep your heart rate constant.
MyZone Interval — This program lets you select your own minimum (low) and maximum (high) target heart rate. After a three minute warm-up the console will adjust the speed and/or incline every ten seconds to raise your heart rate to the preset LOW target and maintain your heart rate for two minutes at this level. Then the console will adjust the speed and incline to raise your heart rate to the HIGH target that was selected during program setup. After holding your heart rate at the HIGH setting the console will begin to lower your heart rate and repeat the process. It is recommended that you set the program time to 25 minutes or higher to use this program effectively. By allowing you to select a minimum and maximum heart rate, you can easily follow your physician’s recommendation for exercise or find your ideal training zone using the “Target Heart Rate Zones” information above.
MyZone Heart Rate Programs on LifeSpan fitness equipment are personal and flexible, and let you enter target heart rates most appropriate for you and your exercise motivation whether it is to lose weight, manage chronic disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure, train for a sporting event, or maintain a healthy lifestyle. Heart Rate Control is a valuable body signal not to be overlooked. LifeSpan Fitness, offers tools to help you identify the heart rate range at which you should be exercising for your fitness level and exercise motivation.
