Foods to Avoid

We previously discussed adding foods to your diet that may help protect you from a variety of cancers.  However, it’s equally important to discuss foods to avoid on your path to better health.  Probably the biggest tip here is to get yourself in the habit of reading every label of every package of food you are considering buying.  You will be surprised at how many foods on the grocery store shelves contain ingredients (some listed below) that are extremely damaging to your heath.  Educate yourself and know what you are putting inside your body.  Since you are going to be adding a new vegetable every month (right?), maybe counter this habit by eliminating one packaged food per month.  So, check the labels and do your best to avoid the following:

junk foods

  1. Hydrogenated Oils
  2. High Fructose Corn Syrup
  3. Fried foods
  4. Sugar
  5. Processed Meats (Hot dogs, cold cuts)
  6. Excessive Alcohol
  7. Packaged foods (Crackers, Chips, Cookies)
  8. Excessive salt
  9. Soda
  10. Aspartame
