Week 2: Weight Loss with My Treadmill Desk


After two weeks on the TR1200-DT5 treadmill desk I’m still feeling great. I didn’t push myself as hard this week and just enjoyed the time I did spend walking. Over the last week I walked for 15.5 hours, took 105,882 steps, burned 2,844 calories and walked for 36.55 miles. I’m comfortable walking at 2.3 MPH now and can even write code while I’m on the treadmill.

I lost another two pounds and am at 16% towards my overall weight loss goal. These continued results are very encouraging and I’m definitely motivated to continue using the desk. I find that even when I’m not walking, just standing at the desk without the belt moving keeps me more alert and focused.

You may have seen LifeSpan’s Treadmill Desk at this year’s Republican National Convention. Google equipped their media room with the desk and there was a lot of buzz especially on Twitter.

This week I also started using my LifeSpan Fitness Club account to track my progress. The program allowed me to set short and long term goals so I can make sure I stay on-track. For this upcoming week, I plan to use the extensive Exercise Reference Library to select some exercises that I can work into my daily routine. The library includes cardiovascular, strength training, flexibility and balance exercises, and instructs me on how to properly complete them and what muscles I’m working.
