Quality product! Easy to put together and easy to use. It is a great starter machine. I have used expensive rowers in private gyms and for the money this one definitely does what it is supposed to do.

  2. A little disappointed, but it gets the job done. Review by Karen Ellett

    Quality

I have to admit that I was somewhat let-down by this rower. I spent a lot of time looking and comparing reviews, because I knew that I couldn't spend the big money for a Concept 2, so I wanted to find the best I could within my price range. I finally settled on the LifeSpan.

    Pros:
Putting this thing together is a piece of cake. It literally took me 15-30 minutes. The main piece, the big gray box that houses all the pulleys and such, is already assembled for you. All I had to do was attach the seat, bars, etc. (The instructions were a little confusing when it came to the seat; I actually thought they hadn't sent the bolts for it and was very upset. Turns out the instructions were just a little poorly done for that particular piece, so if you get the same thing, don't worry!)

There are several different tension settings, so you can choose what works best for you.

And possibly my favorite thing - the seat and long bar fold up easily so storing it, or just reducing it's footprint, is really easy.

    Cons:
The computer part is supposed to show you strokes/min, a timer, estimated calories, etc. You put in the included battery and pop the unit into place. Mine has never worked. Oh, when I start rowing, numbers show up. But only on the timer - everything else stays blank - and the timer seems to work randomly. It will say 2:17 for a very long time, then decide to work for about four seconds, then stop again, etc. I have to use a watch in order to actually time my workout. Obviously it doesn't affect the workout, but it is disappointing.

If I get into a good rhythm and start pulling with any force (and it's just a fabric strap you're pulling) I find that the front actually lifts off the ground. I only weigh 135lbs, so I definitely didn't expect to pull the unit right off the ground! I actually had to find some heavy weights and put them on the front feet in order to keep that from happening.

After about 7 or 8 workouts, I started to notice a bit of noise when I was using it. After I pull, and I start to move forward, there's something like a squeak or a squeal. I assume it's from the pulleys inside the machine, and it's very distracting. I don't expect a silent machine, especially in this price range, but I like to try to watch tv while I'm rowing and the constant squeal/squeak gets extremely frustrating.

All in all, you get what you pay for. You're going to get a decent workout, it gets heart rate up, and it's much better for cardio than an elliptical or treadmill. (In my opinion.) But you're not going to get quite the same quality of experience you would if you shelled out the extra money for a higher end model like the Concept 2.

  4. For the money it's just what I needed! Review by inthebite

I've looked for a long time for a exercise machine of some sort that I can sit on (no butt crack bike seats) and get's my heart rate up without over working my back and left knee. This works for me. It's not full of features (to change resistance settings you have to momentarily stop to turn a knob) but it's well built and easy to move around.
I've used it every day for about three weeks and I see one issue that will take some attention to deal with and avoid maybe a serious injury. Over time the rail that the seat slides back and forth on can build up a residue. This residue from dirt, grease, sweat and oils can cause enough resistance to slow, if not stop the seat from freely sliding on the rail. It happened to me today when I pulled and extended my legs and the seat didn't move with me. I ended up on my butt off the side of the rail in a uncomfortable position (at the least) and I could see where you could bruise a tailbone or wrench your back. I fixed it by taking some brake cleaner (any good cleaner would probably work) and spraying it on a cloth then on the rail. Everything worked great after that. I'll make it a routine to do this minor maintenance every once in awhile and probably unbolt the seat and thoroughly clean the wheels once a month too. I'd recommend this rowing machine to anyone looking for a inexpensive way to stay in shape year round.

This is a great rower, I can get an excellent workout in much shorter time than say an elliptical machine or bicycle. It works both upper and lower body. The machine is big enough for a 200 lb man (or woman) and a 120 lb woman (or man) can use it easily as well. The adjustments are easy and the operation is smooth. I'm real happy with this machine. Quiet, too.

This machine is very quiet which is what I like most about it. I can use it while watching TV and not hear anything from it. It is a little lifeless feeling compared to air rowing machines tho. That is something I can put up with for the quietness. The machine is quit and smooth rowing.

  8. The best rowing machine I've ever bought. Review by Marie

    Quality

Let me first say that it's not my first rower, I've been using rowing machines of all kinds (air,piston,water...) both at my local gym and at home. Now, I finally decided to buy a new rower and got a RW100 online. Got it in a couple of days, and set it up in half an hours.
I had my first session the same day, and let me tell you, it was GREAT!
First of all, unlike many other rowing machines, this one is extremely quiet.
I was watching TV while rowing and absolutely no problems.
I rowed for almost 1 hour and It's was an absolutely calories blasting Cardio Workout. I loved it!
The main point I want to make is that this rowing machine is definitely worth the money, trust me, there are many other pricey rowers out there but they're not as good as the RW100.
Anyway, as soon as the workout ended I easily stored upwards and placed it in my room. So you don't have to worry if you don't have much space at Home.
Just a bottom line, I was using a concept2 rower but this one is way better, at least for me! it's extremely smooth, and it's way cheaper! which is not something to underestimate.
So, I've been using this for about 3 months and I definitely recommend you to get it.
There's a website that helped me choose the right rower, check it out here: rowing machine reviews

I'm completely satisfied with my purchase!
To be honest, the LifeSpan RW1000 is definitely the best rower I've ever used in my life. Although I've used many different rowing machines during the last few years, this rower is the most flexible one and it guarantees to notch performances at any time!

I reccoment you to buy this rower if you're serious about getting fit and, at the same time, have fun. actually, It's not all about getting fit, I enjoy rowing on the water, and so I enjoy rowing with my LifeSpan RW1000 too!
Anyway, I've got to thank this guy @ http://www.rowingmachinereviewshq.org/ for his precious help.

  10. Great at home machine Review by F. S Hartill

    Quality

I have used a few types of rowing machines before and have always been a fan of the upper body and cardio workout. This machine is pretty good quality for the cost. When I purchased it I was worried about the lack of momentum mentioned by one of the other reviews, but honestly I don't know how I used a machine that did build momentum before. I love it, and I can't seem to get a good workout on the other machines now.

Me and my husband assembled it in about 10 minutes, but I could have easily done it by myself. It came in 2 pretty large packages and all but one piece was entacted (a small cover for the back end of the rail was broken, it was only aesthetic)

The folding mechanism is super simple and is easy enough to do after every workout if you don't have a lot of extra space. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the electronic counter doesn't like to turn off when the machine is not in use which runs the battery dead. Also the foot straps are a little cheap, but could be replaced.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an at home row machine that is pretty well made and a reasonable price.

  11. Rowing machine primarily for my wife Review by Peter W Bowler

    Value

THe machine seems generally well made and i bought it primarily for my wife who is using it. Two things I don't like personally: the digital readout never really turns off, there is no switch, and the battery life will be lessened; Point two is that even the stiffest setting will not challenge fit people and they might want to consider a more challenging machine. It also takes up a large horizontal space and since folding it is not much fun, it will have to stay in the middle of the floor most of the time. I can fold it but shee will not.

Good rower, smooth, easy to assemble and easy to use. My problem with it is I baught it for my home crossfit gym, and should of researched more into it because as someone stated it only measures off the seat movement and does not account for pull strenght. Other then how the device measures its data, it is very well put together. Unfortuneately I'll be re-selling this one to break down and by the more expensive concept rowers.

I have owned three rowing machines. This one is by far the best one yet and it cost $100 less than the one I purchased in 1993. This machine gives you a good workout and unlike my other machines, the tension is adjustable so you can work as hard or easy as you like.

Everything arrived in good shape and was easy to put together. All the parts fit well and the design seems good. I have been using it for one week. Overall, it was a good value and adequate for my use (in a 55 yo who is out of shape and just needed some form of regular exercise). It is clearly for home use and I would not expect it to take abuse without problems. If you are very athletic, buy a Concept II. If you are an average Joe (or Jill) who needs a home exercise machine, this will do the trick and not break the bank.

Easy to set up, simple to use, quiet in operation. I have mine in a stationary spot by the t.v. so when I get evening food cravings, I open it up and mindlessly row instead of mindlessly eating. More serious rowers may want to buy more expensive models to get higher-end electronics so they can pretend to compete against other people for motivation. This one simply counts each time the seat moves past a certain point (with or without arm movement) and starts over at 999. But for the money, I got just what I wanted.

Excellent rower for the price. Quieter than the Concept 2, which I used at my local YMCA. MUCH better than the cheap piston rowers (sent one of these back to Amazon). The display/computer isn't great; it times the workouts fine, but the calorie counting is a joke. However, I don't really care to have my exercise equipment tell me how many calories I've expended. You can't go wrong with this machine.

The LifeSpan RW1000 is an excellent home fitness machine. I couldn't be happier with it or recommend it more highly.

It was easy to assemble and is easy to use and the ability to store the seat slide in an upright position is critical in my house. It has enough monitor features to be informative and keep me motivated while exercising. The seat slide is very fluid with absolutely no resistance, the row strap move seamlessly and the machine is darn near silent when in use. I place my tablet next it for a little music to work out by and have no problem hearing it.

I've enjoyed the low-impact exercise this row machine offers.

I like the quality of the machine and it is a great product for the cost.

I've used this machine for about 3 weeks and I like it. It should be a sufficient workout unless you are in exceptional competitive condition. The motion used some different muscles for me and I could only go for about 10 minutes starting out.

Pros: Relatively easy setup, smooth motion, pretty quiet, doesn't take up a lot of space, cheap compared to Concept machine

Cons: Feet tended to slide out of velcro (fixed by strapping a pair of Crocs in place, that works very well, just slip your feet in), exercise counter not backlit (can use a book light if you like to row in the dark)

  21. Good but not enough resistance Review by Deena Williams

I bought this rower and put it together with no problem. It came in two boxes, clear instructions and the material seemed sturdy. I had no trouble with the display. It worked properly. I liked the machine at first and only bought it because the rower at my old gym was one of my favorite pieces of equipment to use. I expected to get a full body workout with this like at the gym but it just doesn't offer enough resistance. It's just too easy. Also the recoil isn't executed properly because the pulling mechanism for the machine is a nylon strap. It can give a jerking or stumble feel when you're trying to do double time or isolate the obliques. It seems to be even easier for smaller people. I let my friend and my mom try it on separate instances. They're both 5'3 and both said they didn't even feel a workout, even on the highest setting. I ended up selling the unit.

  22. Good Quality Rower Review by A. Tran "Marzipanda"

I'm a runner but needed a quieter workout (my treadmill can't really be used in my new condo). Stupid neighbors.

I'm glad I chose this model instead of going for the one that is just a little over $100. The assembly instructions were cryptic (there is a blown-up bill of materials that inaccurately showed over 100 parts). I found it too daunting (due to cognitive deficits, maybe) and asked my brother-in-law for help. It took him only 15 minutes; homie even said it was EASY.

I watched a few how-to-row-properly videos online and that made a difference. The machine folds up nicely and I can easily wheel it to the corner of the room. It makes little contact with the floor so I don't feel that a mat is necessary. This is my first rower and it's amazing how much I sweat during a 30-minute workout (about 600 strokes). I'm losing weight like crazy.

I highly recommend the LifeSpan Fitness RW1000.

This was officially my first home fitness equipment purchase. I researched many, many rowing machines for a period of 3 weeks. i noticed at my old gym that they used this brand and saw good reviews on it, so i purchased it. The unit seems to be very sturdy. The seat is fairly comfortable and the velcro foot straps securely hold my feet during the workout. Probably one of the biggest things i noticed during my workout is how relatively quiet the machine is. My workouts thus far feel very good. I'm only at resistance lvl 1, but i feel as though i'm getting a very effective workout after every use. A slight drawback is the screen for the machine. It is very inaccurate in counting calories burned, but it does have a timer on it, which is really all i wanted.

Assembly of the machine was not as easy as i would have liked. The instructions lacked in detail and the pictures provided were very lackluster. I will compliment PCE though. I gave them a call when i was having difficulty assembling the machine and they were very polite and courteous to walk me through it. I didn't even have to provide them with a serial number or anything, they just helped me.

If your a novice to rowing such as me and are wanting to find a very effective machine to get a solid workout i would recommend this one. I would of liked to of gotten a concept 2, but i just couldn't justify giving that much money for my first rower. For the price, this machine is the best bang for your buck.

I bought this rower 2 years ago and it's been broken twice now! It broke after I'd had it less than a year and the warranty covered the repair, although it took 2 months to finally get a service person to show up and fix it. Now less than a year later it's broken again and my warranty is expired! I simply have not gotten anywhere near my money's worth out of this equipment!

All products generally ship within one to two business days and will be delivered in five to ten business days.

Available Options:

Standard Delivery

UPS/USPS Shipments: UPS and USPS shipments will follow their standard protocols for package deliveries. It is up to the discretion of the driver whether a package is left when no one is home. If the driver feels that the package could be stolen or get damaged based on your location or weather conditions the driver will not drop the package but will leave a first attempt notice. The driver will make three attempts with notices on each attempt and then return the product to the distribution center to be held for the customer to pick up. After seven days the shipment is considered undeliverable and will be returned to the shipper.

Curbside Delivery: Delivered to the curb or driveway. The customer is responsible for moving the product from the point of delivery to the garage or room where the product will reside. The drivers are not responsible for placing the product inside the garage or home. LifeSpan will not be responsible for rain damage or stolen product if the product cannot be moved to a dry, secure location. Since most equipment weighs over 175 lbs., if a second person is not available to help move the product to the home a better option is Inside Delivery or the best option is Room of Choice Delivery.

Inside Delivery - $49

Large items ship via motor freight and will be placed in the garage or the first available ground level door. This does not include room of choice or any steps. Since your product is being shipped via freight carrier you will be contacted by phone to schedule a delivery time since this shipping method requires a signature.

Room of Choice - $99

Delivered by a freight carrier with lift gate, two delivery professionals will place your product in the room of your choice. Rooms can be up/down two flights of stairs only, additional flights will be charged an additional $15 per flight. This is our recommended service option since the assembly process is quite basic for most LifeSpan pieces of equipment.

White Glove Service - $199

This is our highest quality shipping service, leaving all the work to us so you don't need to lift a finger. The complete White Glove Service includes:

  • Delivery of the product to your home
  • Placement in the room of your choice (up/down two flights of stairs)
  • Unpacking and removal of debris
  • Assembly

This service is sometimes a two-step process that may require two separately scheduled appointments.

  1. Delivery and removal of packaging
  2. Product assembly may require a certified LifeSpan technician to come to your home and assemble the product that was placed in your room of choice by the delivery team.

Depending on the product you purchase, it may take one or two separately scheduled appointments. Items that only require one-step in this process are the TR200 Treadmill and all Treadmill Desks and Bike Desks (ConfigureDesks will be a two-step process). These units will be assembled by the delivery team.
