Nice idea and execution

The treadmill is a nice sturdy, bare-bones treadmill. It doesn't have extemporaneous things to get in the way, i.e. hand rails. The sturdy desk takes the place of needing handrails. I was concerned how this would work, but I like it better than I think I would if it had rails. The desktop is HUGE. You can put a great my things on it and still have room left. I can have my computer, phone, and legal size note pad or book from which I am typing; and I would still have room to eat dinner without getting any of the items messy. The simple workout information is nice to know: time, distance, steps, calories.

Treadmill and Desk are both Very Solid!

I tossed around the idea of hacking together my own treadmill desk for awhile, but finally decided to purchase this after reading all of the positive reviews. I'm glad I did - this is one of those rare purchases where I received a product that exceeded my expectations.

I've used a stand-up desk for a number of years, and there was surprisingly little to get used to in order to walk and work at the same time. I had planned on easing into the walking slowly, but ended up doing 5 hours the first day and 6 hours the second without any ill-effects.

Assembly:

The product arrived quickly and well packaged. Assembly was a breeze - in fact, it took longer to get the stuff out of the boxes and to the recycling bin than actually putting the treadmill desk together. The instructions are easy to read and it isn't that complex of an item to get together. I was able to assemble it by myself, but it is probably advisable to have two people do the assembly. Also, I would suggest grabbing a socket wrench for the bolts that connect the tabletop to the desk legs - the flat wrench provided can get a bit annoying and take too much time.

Build Quality:

The desk and treadmill are VERY solid. The desk uses high quality hardware and is extremely stable.

Design:

When considering the purchase, I really didn't like that the desk was curved and had built-in pads and treadmill display. The product designers knew better - the pads are very comfortable and the curved design just works well.

The treadmill itself has a large deck. I'm 6' 3" and usually feel like I'm in danger of hitting the sides or back of treadmills - not so on this one. The motor also seems to be very quiet - It's certainly not silent, but is a reasonable level to use in an office even with my door open to the hallway.

I've only had it a couple of days, so I can't yet comment on reliability. I hope the build quality also translates into a long lasting product.

Although I would recommend this desk to anybody, I'd like to point out the few items that I consider to be minor problems:

Aesthetics - while the desk isn't ugly, it looks like a piece of hospital equipment. While I don't think it's possible for a treadmill desk NOT to stick out in an office environment, It would have been great if it could have been made to look a little less clinical. Though, of course, some people may love that look.

Beeping - The unit beeps on starting, stopping, and when making any adjustments. This can be very frequently in an office environment and the beeping itself is quite loud. It would be nice if this could be deactivated.

Resume - Whenever you pause or stop walking and then restart it, you have to reset your speed (which is also accompanied by beeping).

Though there are a couple of minor annoyances, I am extremely happy with this desk and recommend it very highly!

So easy to assemble- very pleased so far

It arrived today and went together really fast (I am not mechanically inclined). In fact I am typing while walking. I'm looking forward to using it often.

Update: now have 15 miles and 42,000 steps and 2,300 calories. Very quiet and sturdy (I am 6'7" and 250+ pounds).

Another update- Just hit 30,000 calories burned having walked 550,000+ steps and 216 miles. Am still very pleased. It continues to operate smoothly. The only thing I do is follow recommended silicone spray on the belt. Have lost 25 pounds (35 pounds if I can count the 10 pounds I lost twice at Christmas!). Resting heart-rate down as is blood pressure.

I have 2 young children so any moment I am not working is spent with them. This has revolutionized my ability to finally get some exercise in while working. I can write docs and make phone calls all while walking. I agree with another reviewer that I am more focused with work when I am on the treadmill. My husband fixed it so it no longer beeps all the time, which was my only complaint. It's footprint is also smaller than I had expected, which is yet another bonus. Only downside was that we paid for the service to set it up, and the company to whom it was outsourced it had no idea what they were doing (had never put one together before and did not even know they were supposed to put it together!). My husband ended up fixing their mistakes - minor mistakes, but when you pay $200 for that service there should be NO mistakes. That aside, the product is fantastic.

Excellent for Software Engineers

Software Engineers work long, long hours behind a keyboard and monitor. This solution was perfect for me because I no longer have to sacrifice work time to exercise. I now walk at least 6 hours a day.

I was dubious that I would be able to maintain full control over my keyboard while coding, but when walking at 2.5 mph, it is pretty achievable. The only time I stop the treadmill is to do design work in Photoshop, but other than that I am at a steady 2.5 all day long.

All the photos of this treadmill tend to include laptops on the desktop, but I have mounted a 27" Apple Thunderbolt display perfectly on here. It is stable enough that the monitor does not move while walking (as long as the treadmill is not touching the desk legs) and I have my laptop docked to the monitor. It is a perfect solution.

The perfect gift for a healthy change!,

I'm brand new to this outstanding machine, just got it yesterday, but I'm already in love with it. It looks really nice with my 27 inch iMac sitting on the desk, which is very spacious! I used it for about two hours at about 2.5 mph and it was a very good feeling to get my work done and at the same time get a generous workout.

I'm very pleased with the delivery and the item was very easy to put together.

Pros:

Very spacious desk space.
Great looking.
Easy to use.
Easy to assemble.
Very quiet operation, (third floor condo owner, so this is a big pro).

Cons:

Takes up a chunk of space.
Stopping can be abrupt.
No incline feature, ( knew this going in though).

Otherwise, I'm thrilled with the unit and I'm looking forward to using it everyday. If you're on the fence I wouldn't hesitate, this thing is the perfect solution for a couch potato or a desk jockey. Personally I love it.

Update:

This has changed my life. I use it everyday. Love it. I've lost almost 10 pounds! Makes work go by lightning fast.

Quality product. Quiet. Sturdy. Easy to work at low speeds. Great service.

This is a life/heath changer that you will use. If everyone in the U.S. worked at one of these it could make a huge dent in our obesity epidemic.

I have two desks (one for sitting and this one) which helps because I am not sure I could use this all day long. However, slow walking is MUCH more comfortable than standing.

It is very easy to read, type on the computer and use the internet at .4 mph and the steps add up quickly. Sometimes I crank it up to 4mph when I need to really get the blood going.

Using this treadmill has "activated" my whole body, so I find myself walking more, wanting to lift weights more, etc. For me it has broken a sedentary cycle I was falling into.

The product has a large work area: 47w x 32d. It takes up some floor space: 37w x 72d. So plan for that.

I am 54 years old. I would NEVER go back to sitting all day.

My unit was missing the safety key. I called the company and they sent one overnight at no charge which exceeded my expectations.

In summary: This product is a great value. It is build very strong and is stable (be sure to tighten the desk top bolts properly and there is NO wobble). I thought a long time before buying this because I did not want to buy some fitness equipment that I would not use. However, I am using this MORE than I expected. It is exceeding all of my expectations.

Pretty awesome

Quiet (beeping easily turned off), simple to use, desk is rock solid. Have a 27" dell monitor and no stability issues at all. Desk is fantastic.

So far, so good. Have only had it for a short time, but in the first day I casually walked to 17000 steps without realizing it. I certainly did realize it the next day when the muscles that were used to me sitting on my butt all day complained, but that's why we do this, right? Typing is no problem using a Microsoft Natural 4000 keyboard. Mousing is taking some getting used to, but it's surprising how quickly you acclimate. The firs few days, walking about 1.3 mph was comfortable for mousing, but now I find my self turning up the speed to 1.5 or a bit higher. Over time, I can see getting quite used to the ergonomics. I also use a trackball for me left hand, which is quite handy to have two mousing choices.

The unit is quiet enough that using my Plantronics Legacy BT headset for both MS Lync calls and cell phone calls, the other end has no idea that I'm walking at 1.5mph. As far as I can tell, this is going to be a great way to gently increase my fitness level, or at a minimum, slow my decline. I'm 51 and sitting for 12 hours a day working from home was absolutely killing me. I've had this job for three years and the impact on my weight and fitness of being chained to a desk all day for every meeting, call, email, projects, etc. has really had an unexpected negative impact. My hope is this will change that. I'll provide updates in the future to let folks know the real impact, but so far so good.

Has Exceeded All of My Expections!

I bought this, and it shipped promptly. Arrangments for the scheduled delivery to my workplace were really easy. The two boxes are absolutely enormous and both are very, very heavy.

I set up the treadmill by myself in just over an hour. I'm a woman with average upper-body strength, so it took a little ingenuity--I rested the very heavy desk top on my head to get it high enough to place on top of the desk legs. A fair amount of the "assembly" time was spent unpacking/unwrapping the various parts, as the treadmill unit and the desk unit were well-protected in plastic, styrofoam and cardboard. Assembly itself was simple - there are just 10 bolts, and the tools you need are included.

I can't imagine a treadmill desk of better quality than this one. The pieces are all very well made, and it is super sturdy when it's assembled. It looks great in a professional setting (I work in a very traditional, conservative bank), and I would be just as pleased to have it sitting in my home.

Immediately after I assembled the unit, I used it for nearly 5 hours. I used it this morning for over 2 hours, and I expect to use it again later today. It's addictive! At 2mph, I can be as productive as I normally am while sitting; at 2.5mph, I can be fairly productive. I don't recommend hand-writing anything, as it turns out pretty messy at those speeds.

The desk does not jiggle when I'm at those speeds. It has some indentations that rest on two little things that jut out from the trreadmill piece. It's not actually atttached, but the way it rests, you can be sure there won't be any sliding around. The desk height adjustment is super easy to do, by the way. It took me a few adjustments to get it right, but that's normal.

After reading the other reviews, I'm not going to bother trying the Bluetooth feature. I have a Fitbit, which I love. I started a simple spreadsheet to track my time, mileage, etc. on the treadmill desk. That way, I'll know when I'm at 50-hour intervals, at which time you're supposed to spray more lubricant under the belt. I also want to track my use and progress.

A couple of things:
- Be sure to register the unit as soon as it arrives! I am so grateful to other reviewers for this tip. PLEASE NOTE that the 30 days you have to register the unit BEGINS WITH THE DATE YOU ORDER the unit on Amazon. So, HURRY! Although all seems well, you don't want to take any chances with something as expensive as this.
- Go ahead and buy the mat and silicone lubricant set you see on Amazon. You'll need it anyway. You actually need to spray it under the belt before you get going (they warn in the manual that it may have dried out between the time it was manufactured and the time it reached you). This step is super easy.

Regarding the price, yes, this is expensive. Sure, you could rig something up with a regular treadmill and some piece of IKEA furniture or other thing. But aren't you worth more than that? It really is a well done, attractive set-up you'll be happy to have it around. So easy to assemble, looks great and the quality seems outstanding. Don't short-change yourself. You deserve this - it's an investment in your health and well-being.

I'm really excited about my shiny new treadmill desk! Maybe it's just the "honeymoon period" of it being new, but I do feel more energetic and like my focus has improved when I'm working while walking on it. I hope to shed a few pounds, too. I'll write more at a later date after the machine and I have had more time to prove ourselves!

Great treadmill/desk combination.

My daughter bought this treadmill with the workstation and she really loves it. She says it was easly assembly and she really likes the adjustable function of the workstation. IT is a little pricely, but the combining the treadmill with the workstation is a real plus for her. She has had very positive experiences with a similar unit where she works (ICU telehealth monitoring unit). It does take up a little extra room in her apartment, but she likes that she can do her walking at any hour of the day. She works night shifts, so her "daytime" is in the middle of hte night, not always the safest time of the day to be outdoors walking.
She is also training her dog to walk on the treadmill so Polly can get her exercise too! Don't forget to get a treadmill matt--helps perserve the lifespan for the treadmill as well as protect the floor.
