I have only had this treadmill for 3 weeks, but the price, ordering experience, delivery, and setup were all top notch! I have used it daily, and it is quiet, smooth, easy to use. The shipping company was so fast, efficient and courteous -- a good reflection on the LifeSpan company! All in all, I am so very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone! Thank you!

It'll do....

If I could, I would've given this machine 3.5 stars. It is a bit better than 3 stars, but that's the scoring system here so that's what I saw fit to give it. Based on the reviews here, I ordered this treadmill from Amazon about a little over a month ago. If I weren't such a big fan of Amazon's awesome customer service and no hassle return policy, I would never order another treadmill offline again because I did that twice and made two mistakes that i just didn't want to repeat again. It cost me unnecessary money in terms of outrageous shipping fees to return the last one I bought which was from Yowza fitness, and not to mention the time and excruciating task of disassembling, re packaging it, and paying someone to carry it back to a shipper. After that very stressful ordeal, i called Amazon beforehand to get clear on the return policy. As I understood, Amazon would schedule a free return pick up from my door if the thing didn't work right for me so even if you don't buy this treadmill, please buy from Amazon if u decide to purchase one online. In the event it doesnt work for u, u can avoid a return nightmare.

At any rate, after searching for months on end trying to find a compact, reasonably priced, sturdy treadmill, I found this one. You would think with the advancement of technology these days, this would be easy to find, but it's not. Treadmills are either compact and cheaply made to the point where they shake violently if you walk too fast or God forbid--run on them OR they are sturdy and strong, but big over sized mammoth machines that take up too much space. In all honesty, I settled for this treadmill because of two main reasons:

1.) It is very compact for my space needs. I like the fact that the arms and legs do not extend beyond 29 inches (I think they measure about 27 1/2 inches or so) which will fit perfectly in my closet once my honey makes the minor alteration to the closet space. I really like the fact that the console is not huge. I am so pleased that it does not protrude all over the place whereby it feels like a plastic shield obscuring my view. Now I can see my TV while I run and the console is so compact that even when you fold up the running belt, you can actually push the running belt up closer to the console if you need to by strapping it closer to the machine. I was really serious about having space when i bought a treadmill this time because even though the Reebok treadmill (which was my first online purchase of a treadmill mistake due to how huge this thing was) I had worked perfectly, that thing was just too huge and I just got tired of seeing it taking over my room for years so I sold it for the sole purpose of getting a more compact treadmill and this one fit the bill.

2.) second reason I have not returned it is because it is very sturdy. I am impressed that it doesn't wobble much at all. I work out on it about 4 days a week for about 30 min and I do sprints up to a 10.0 speed and my towel has not fallen off the console. It does wiggle slightly, but it's very minor compared to how hard I run. When I witnessed this, it was a keeper for me although I really wanted the Livestrong 13.0. I would say that if you are not concerned about space and you love to run, the Livestrong 13.0 is a better machine. I tested it out on 3 different occasions at Dick's Sporting Goods, and though I really liked it, I just couldn't get over the fact that it was bigger than the Life Span. I just wish the arms and legs were shorter. That's the only reason I didn't get it (Yes, that's how obsessed I am with conserving space).

The cons about LifeSpan treadmill is that it doesn't have quick set buttons for speeds higher than 6.0 so it's annoying to have to scroll all the way up to 10.0 from 6.0. I mean i have to keep pressing the speed button over 20 times just to get to 10.0 from 6.0 speed level. Time is of the essence when I work out as I try to keep my heart rate up and it's just not appealing to not have a quick set button for each increment of whole number speeds. The incline is the same way. Though it goes up to about 14 or a 15 incline, the quick set button only goes up to 10. I can tell that the designers of this machine didn't put a lot of thought into that area. My next complaint is that the other reviewers are somewhat correct about the hand sensors that supposed to detect your heart rate. This is the lowest quality part of the machine so far to me. It will remain on 82 no matter if I am at a 2.0 or 10.0 speed level. The only way I have been able to get it to work is to use the Aloe vera gel as suggested in the manual. I really don't like having slimy gel on my hand while I am already all sweaty and stuff, but this is the only way it will work. Last thing is that I called the company to find out if they have some sort of shock absorption on this model, they said no it wasn't. At this time, it doesn't feel bad on my knees but I hope I am not sacrificing good knees for space in the event I find out in the long run that having no shock absorption on the running belt wasn't a good idea for me. The Livestrong 13.0 has all of this, but again, it was just a bit too big for my spatial needs. One last thing, I also like the cup holders on this machine (unfortunately, I didn't like the cup holes (they can't even be called cup holders) that are on the Live strong). I can put my articles, remote, water and other little items in them and they are not disturbed nor do they fall off at all when I run or walk on high incline. Lastly, the speakers on this machine are not good. But to be fair, I've tried several different treadmills and I have not found speakers good enough on any treadmill (not even the Live Strong) that would make me give up the great clarity, bass and pumped up volume of my earphones so this isn't an issue for me at all. It's a decent machine I suppose... It exceeded a couple of my expectations and fell below par on others. I just hope it will last a long time like my Reebok treadmill did.

BUILT TOUGH, SMALL SIZE & GREAT ELECTRONICS!,

I agree with all the positive feedback posts. The Lifespan TR 1200i is a great treadmill. When my son & I were assembling the unit out of the box, it is plain to see that the design is well thought out and the parts are good quality. The way this treadmill is designed I can expect to get a lot of mileage and years of use. The assembly is straight forward and because we were slow took about an hour. The design also minimizes the size for this being a large treadmill. The side posts are small which helps make the machine less menacing but are very sturdy. The deck height is also perfect for most locations especially if you have a lower ceiling. The electronics? Let's face it, we all love our electronic gadgets these days. Right out of the box the TR 1200i has preset programs for both adjustable speed increase / decrease and incline. The incline works awesome! My favorite workout takes me up the hill and back down. You can also manually adjust either the incline or the speed within the programs during your workout. The adjustment buttons are redundant both on the main control board and also on the hand grips. The incline raise & lower is on the left handle and the speed increase / decrease is on the right. Recommendation: When you purchase this or any other treadmill, you should also order the silicone spray lubricant. I was not aware of this when we had our last treadmill (not sure what brand it was) and the belt disintegrated. As other reviews indicated this to be important, I also ordered the Lifespan silicone spray and so far everything is running very smooth. I would recommend this treadmill to anyone for occasional or hard core use. It can take it! TW

We only just got our treadmill this week, so far so good. Will update the 5 star rating if we encounter any problems. Assembly took 30-45 minutes. The main thing I wanted to provide, since I couldn't find this info in other reviews, is the shipping box dimensions. The box weight is listed as 224lb, and the measurements listed are 73.8"L x 34.4"W x 14.4"H.

So Quiet, Feels Great Running, Very Stable and Durable (Posted on April 23, 2013)

I really like this treadmill. It is so quiet, all you hear is foot steps!
I like the pre set programs - although it does take a bit to figure out how to use everything.
I love the quick speed buttons and the controls on the side handle bars!

I like the website as well, to keep track of your progress.

Overall great treadmill. I would recommend to others.

Mostly happy with a few negatives for your consideration

I primarily run outside several days per week and purchased this treadmill for hot or rainy days. The delivery person was kind enough to carry the heavy box to the back of my house and leave it in my walk-out basement. My husband had a reasonably easy time putting the treadmill together. It is quiet and seems very sturdily built, which is surprising at this great price.
There are some negatives, but I am not sure what treadmill in this price range would not have some negatives:
1. Speed is presented in miles per hour instead of minutes per mile, which is what runners use to set goals. The manufacturers chose to include a pedometer instead, so maybe this treadmill is primarily aimed at less active runners/walkers.
2. The treadmill is very heavy and cannot be moved by two adults on carpeted floor, so there is no way to reposition the treadmill or move it out of the way.
3. Your height and weight can be easily and permanently set on the machine using the website and a USB drive, but a 2nd user will need to enter weight manually on the machine each time and will not be able to use the Fitness Club.
4. The Fitness Club website is slow and has not always transferred all of my data from the USB accurately, so I will just track my own stats using another application (e.g., RunKeeper).

Good function, just okay construction

The treadmill is good for the price, but there were some issues. Some of the screws that came with the treadmill were already warped and no extras were provided. This is also a shame since some of the screws are really tiny and go into awkwardly posistioned holes. I have relatively small hands, and my sister's were even smaller and we still had a tough time not dropping the screws. Some extras included would have been good. There was also no lube or USB included. Considering that you need both of these, they should have been included (luckily I read reviews and bought lube beforehand).

Also, some of the holes were just a bit too small or out of place. And I think it would have been impossible for me to put this thing together by myself.

The machine works fine (shakes a little even when my 170lbs sister runs on it), but I had such a headache putting it together that I can't give it 4 or 5 stars.

sturdy good quality overall. delivery was good bc they called and double checked to make sure someone there and the guy was nice. but they are not allowed to bring in to the room you want, or even the house, they were going to leave it in garage, be prepared to have extra help to drag it in with a dolley. its all in a big heavy box about 300 pounds . the computer set up is confusing but I am not as computer savvy and didnt really care about that part, it wont work when I download the software, but all i cared about was running on it , very sturdy, even has speakers attached for your mp3. good luck in putting it together, the manual sucks for assembly, so I asked my friend who is machine savvy to do it and he set it up in a total of 1 hour. all the parts came. there was only one scratch on one of the plastic panels. there is a service you can order to have someone put it together but it was around $250.had it now for about 3 weeks only and have been using it 3x /week

I had been thinking of getting a treadmill for several years but couldn't make up my mind. My most recent research led me to this one, which seemed to be what I was looking for and was also on sale. So far I am extremely pleased. It was delivered on the day and time specified, easy to assemble, folds up easily, the motor is quiet, it's easy to operate, has a 15% incline, everything I was looking for. The only drawback I can think of is that there is more pounding noise when running than on the treadmill I used at the gym (and I am not heavy), but for the price this is a very minor complaint. Highly recommended.

Very happy!

Shopped around for the best pricing on a good quality treadmill. I went to fitness shops by me as well as shopped on line. we are very happy with the Lifespan TR 1200i. Got a great deal on a new one. We received it within one week of ordering. The packaging was not in the best shape, but the treadmill inside was untouched. The delivery was just to our door, but fortunately it was easy to unpack and carry in pieces down the stairs to the basement where set up was a breeze. The directions were very easy to follow. The treadmill is very user friendly, quiet and extremely sturdy!!
